Frequently Asked Questions

   1. How many levels are there at ILTC?

There are 14 levels at ILTC - 7 core levels, each of which is followed by an in-depth practice level. All core and practice levels are compulsory. However, an exception will be made for those learners who demonstrate an excellent performance and successfully pass the core level oral and written tests. These students will be allowed to skip the practice level following the core level they had successfully completed and move on to the next core level straight away.

   2. What is the duration of the course?

One level lasts for 8 weeks. Students meet 3 times a week with each lesson lasting 2 hrs.

   3. What is the educational background of the teachers?

All our teachers hold university degrees, with a vast majority of them having also honed their skills abroad and holding internationally recognized teaching certificates from prestigious institutions such as School of International Training, Iowa State University (USA); Oxford University, Cambridge University (Great Britain).

   4.Do you have native speakers?

Every year we have at least 2 native speakers, who mostly teach advanced levels and conversation clubs.

   5. What teaching methods do you use?

Our teachers use the Direct Method, which means that English, German, Italian or Romanian is the language of teaching from the very first level . We also use interactive methods involving games, a very relaxed, student-centered atmosphere where each student has the opportunity to work in pairs with his/her peers and participate in small-group exercises.

   6. How many levels do I have to complete to be able to speak with a native speaker?

The advantage of the courses is that they are based on communication. That is why you will be able to have a relatively basic conversation after the completion of the first 3 levels.

   7. How many students are there in a group?

The numbers range from 6 to 14 or from 6 to 12 students in lower level groups.

   8. What other courses, besides general English and German do you offer?

  • English for Children
  • English for Teenagers
  • Exam Preparation: TOEFL, IELTS, FCE, CAE

   9. Is there private tutoring at ILTC ?

Private tuition is an option open for all those who wish to get individual help with conversational and written English, tutoring in academic subjects, informal language proficiency evaluation, cultural activities, TOEFL preparation, and more. The One-to-One program is tailored to the individual needs of each student taking into account his/her language proficiency level, needs and time frame.

   10. What are the topics of the Conversation Clubs?

The topics of the clubs depend on the students' needs and interests. Language skills are acquired and consolidated through discussion, debates, speaking games, role-plays, sketches, and presentations.

   11. Where is it possible to take TOEFL?

The Educational Advising Center (EAC, Stefan cel Mare Str, 148) provides information on the registration procedure for the computer-based TOEFL in other countries.
Through our preparation courses we help our students score higher.

   12. Can the ILTC students use the Audio-Video Laboratory and library?

Each ILTC student has a credit of 22 hours for individual work in the AV Lab that is free of charge. A competent person will help to find and use the necessary material according to the student's needs and his/her level.

There is a wealth of material at the AV-Lab that is being constantly updated - even people outside the school are interested in it. Last year it became accessible to general public. The charges for the use of AV-lab for non- ILTC students are as follows:

  • Subscription fee (22 hrs) – 198 lei
  • 30 min – 5 lei
  • 60 min –10 lei

   13. What is the registration procedure at ILTC?

At first, the students register on a Waiting List for the next semester. Later on they are invited to take a written and oral test, following the results of which they are assigned to a group. Is the testing of new students free? Yes, the New Students' Testing is free of charge.
